YOUR 2018 Style Re-Solutions
2018 Style Re-Solutions
It’s February. Your New Year’s Resolutions have probably come and gone, and maybe come again since the year started. Exercise, diets, budgets are all common focuses but what about your image? If wellness, weight loss, or even putting yourself first more often are part of your resolutions then so is your personal style. And guess who’s here to make that easy and fun? Moi!
It’s this simple- email me {trustintricia@gmail.com} your biggest roadblock when it comes to fashion or shopping. Whatever challenges you face when getting dressed each day or shopping for new items. The thing that makes you feel uncertain in the outfit choices you are making, or whatever stops you from looking and feeling your best. I will come up with a quick and easy solution that will become your 2018 Style Re-Solution and email it back to you. A plan that will help you get and stay on track to start the year off fashionably right!
Let’s use myself for example. A new mom (my little Prince was born on 1/10/18!)- my body has changed, I have no idea what still fits me and I don’t have the time between 2 hour feedings to get dressed. If I get a chance to run an errand (specifically to Target, which I now know why is every mom’s favorite place to escape!) I’m flying out the door in whatever I had on, complete with spit up, or whatever I wore the day before because it’s “right there”. But I still want to get dressed up. I still want to accessorize, I still want to wear makeup, I still want to look good even when I run to Target. Most of all, I want to feel a little like my old self and not that I’ve had to sacrifice my style or how much fun I have getting dressed simply because I don’t have the time for myself. So what would the stylist in me give the client in me as the first step in getting my stuff together? What would my 2018 Style Resolution be?
First step- get organized. The ultimate goal of course would be to have a wardrobe of items that I know fit my new body and my new lifestyle. That means taking the time out to try things on, pair looks together and organize them in a way that makes grabbing them quickly easy. But of course, all of that takes time, which is one of my issues. So the fastest and most effective way to get started is to get organized. Clear a spot in the most accessible section of my closet to place the items I know fit and can be worn together. Whenever possible, at a moment where the baby is asleep or maybe right before I shower, but not right before I need to run an errand or be somewhere on time, choose another article of clothing to try on. If it fits, add it to the “wear me now when you’re in a rush but still want to look cute” section. This way I’m creating a new quick space to grab clothing from, rather than just grabbing whatever is on the collect-clothes-chair that I wore the day before. The same strategy can be used to for hair and makeup too. Being organized here means having what you need in your purse because you just might be brushing your hair and applying some lip gloss and mascara in the car parked in the Target parking lot. (I speak from experience!)
