Emarc's Fashion Swap for Charity
After stumbling across a link to another fashion swap in Melrose, Allie and I definitely had to check it out! We had no idea what to expect, so we were going with hopeful, open minds. At 6p.m. on a dark, gloomy, and rainy Thursday night, we arrived to Melrose Memorial Hall to find to our surprise a large group of women (and some men!) to support fashion and charity. Hosted by Emarc, this fashion swap was definitley a success in our books! Many local businesses donated great prizes to the fundraiser, such as Bobby C. Ristorante, The Great American Tavern, The Beauty Cafe, Peacuddy’s Cafe and Bakery, Bead Gallery Inc., Turners Seafood Grill and Market, The Clothes Vine, Twin Seafood, Gaetanos Ristorante, Melrose Blossoms, Avon, Direct Jewelry, Bread and Bits of Ireland, The Hitching Post, Center for Emerging Arts, Stoneham Theater, Salon Viari, and Natural Elegance.
The organization and placement of the clothes, accessories, jewelry, raffle bags, and food were perfectly arranged – they even had space for a “changing room” which was one of our favorites, so people could try on the clothes before they took them! It was a “drop a bag, fill a bag” set up, with individual areas designated for tops, pants, skirts, dresses, coats, and accessories. The refreshment table was a world of its own, from veggies and dip to sweets, red and white wine to water and soda. The overall atmosphere was warm, welcoming and fun and we had a great time (and scored some cute new peices for our summer wardrobes!)
