Arm Candy

I just love me an armful of bracelets! And spring and summer are the best times to take advantage of short sleeves or no sleeves and stack on the bracelets. Have fun with it!

One of the reasons I fell in love with Stella & Dot is their bracelet assortment. You can buy the bracelets piece by piece, even season after season, and still be able to come up with tons of different layering combos because they all still go together. Here are some of my favorite examples:

I am also a huge fan of layering by Alex and Ani and Sisco + Berluti:

So now your ready to decorate your arm but you don’t know where to start? Do you see the looks in fashion mags but not sure if you can pull it off? Wondering how to mix and match bracelets correctly so it doesnt just look like you are a little girl who got into your moms jewelry box?! Here are some tips:

Mix materials– create eclectic looks by mixing different materials, like metal and leather or beads and charm bracelets, etc. Mix metals, even mix printed bracelets with other patterns or solids! The key is to limit the number of mixed metals to a max of 3 and repeat each metal or color at least once. Repetition helps things look more coordinated.

Mix colors– Go wild here! Chose a theme and then use all that you have that fits it! Going for earthy materials and colors? Mix browns, greens, oranges and golds. Looking to dress up an LBD for an celebration? Mix metallics, shimmery shades and blingy pieces. Looking to make a neon or brights statement? Stack purple, pink, blue, green and yellow bangles!

Mix sizes/widths– create a unique look by mis-matching widths, like mixing some wider bracelets with skinny ones, wide cuffs with skinny bangles, square acrylic bangles with round ones, etc

Choose similar fits– the most important rule of all. Meaning if your going for all bangles or all fitted beaded bracelets, stick with bracelets that are about the same circumference and fit your arm/wrist the same. Nothing looks more messy and unorganized than if you have two bracelets stuck on your wrist because they’re smaller than the others that are falling off your wrists and climbing all the way up your arm!
